Program Description

Funded by NOAA with match from UConn, Connecticut Sea Grant (CTSG) part of a network of Sea Grant programs in coastal and Great Lakes states that integrates research, outreach, and education on coastal and marine issues most relevant to the state’s stakeholders. Activities center around 4 focus areas: healthy coastal ecosystems, fisheries and aquaculture, resilient coastal communities, environmental literacy, and workforce development.

As a non-advocacy program, CTSG’s mission is to generate and provide science-based information and tools to help Connecticut residents and communities balance diverse coastal and marine interests and adapt to changing conditions. New knowledge is created through CTSG’s biennial applied research competition, and that knowledge is shared through place-based extension and education programs, while listening to stakeholders and partners evolving needs. As a non-regulatory, non-advocacy program, CTSG develops and nurtures partnerships and trusted relationships, and often serves as convener to address complex issues with different points of view. While located at UConn Avery Point, CTSG’s mandate is state-wide.
