Veterans History Project
The Veterans History Project is a nationwide effort of the American Folklife Center in the Library of Congress to collect, preserve, and make accessible the personal accounts of American war veterans so that future generations may hear directly from veterans and better understand the realities of war. More than 137,244 veterans have told their stories through the Veterans History Project and will be preserved forever within the archives of the Library of Congress. You may find these incredible stories by visiting loc.gov/vets. Capturing and preserving these stories of courage, honor, and service to the country is vital in telling the story of the United States. The University of Connecticut is committed to collecting, preserving, and promoting living histories of all U.S. Veterans. Every veteran has a story to tell, and every story is an essential piece of understanding the human side of war, answering the question – why did you serve?
The Office of Veterans Affairs and Military Programs looks for volunteers to interview veterans from around the state for the Veterans History Project. This program will provide the supplies needed and training to conduct said interviews.
