Provost’s Awards For Excellence In Community Engagement

We would like to recognize students who tackle community challenges. Rooted in the land-grant and sea-grant mission, this award fosters two-way knowledge exchange between the University and communities—locally, nationally, or globally.

Below is a list of awards for which students are eligible, based on their contributions to Community Engagement. We kindly ask for your support in promoting these opportunities and in recognizing the outstanding students who are dedicated to fostering meaningful community connections.

Professor Krimerman led the creation of the University of Connecticut Inner College, an alternative approach to higher education, in the late 1960s and early 1970s. This grant program was established by UConn alumni inspired by Professor Krimerman’s educational programs. Krimerman Community Service Grants support student-led projects that involve the community directly.

Co-op Legacy Fellowship Program – Change GrantsGrantStudentCo-op Legacy Fellowship Program – Change GrantsBorn out of the UConn Co-op’s commitment to social impact, public engagement, innovative entrepreneurship, and active mentorship, the UConn Co-op Legacy Fellowship – Change Grants provide undergraduates the opportunity to engage in projects that make an impact and express the core values of the UConn Co-op: innovation, leadership, and service.
UConn undergraduates in all majors can apply for up to $4,000 in funding to support social impact, service, applied research, advocacy, or social innovation projects. Projects need to be student-designed and/or student-led. Applications are accepted from individuals and from small groups (no more than three people) who will be working collaboratively or co-leading an initiative.

This approach aims to foster innovative thinking and produce a strategic plan for Campus Compact’s student-facing initiatives.
