Below is a list of awards for which staff members are eligible, based on their contributions to Community Engagement. We kindly ask for your support in promoting these opportunities and in recognizing the outstanding staff who are dedicated to fostering meaningful community connections.
Provost’s Awards For Excellence In Community Engagement
We recognize collaborative work by staff who tackle community challenges. Rooted in the land-grant mission, this award fosters two-way knowledge exchange between the University and communities—locally, nationally, or globally.

UConn – PAECES | Staff Individual (Distinguished) | Staff | One award for lifetime, sustained, or career achievements in community engagement activities may be given. |
UConn – PAECES | Staff Individual (Emerging) | Staff | One award for early career community engagement activities may be given. |
UConn – PAECES | Staff Team | Staff | One staff team award may be given for community-engaged scholarship activities. The team must be comprised of at least two UConn staff members. |
Engagement Scholarship Consortium (ESC) | Excellence in Outreach and Engagement Professional Community Engagement Award | Staff | The Excellence in Outreach and Engagement Professional Community Engagement Award recognizes an individual staff member or group of staff members for an exemplary community-engaged program or project. |
Campus Compact | Nadinne Cruz Community Engagement Professional Award | Staff | Recognizing community engagement professionals for their transformative collaboration with communities, commitment to justice-oriented work, and impact on the larger community engagement movement. |
Campus Compact | Excellence in Civic & Community Engagement Programming Award | Staff/Faculty | Campus Compact’s Excellence in Civic & Community Engagement Programming Award recognizes the many forms that effective on-campus civic and community engagement can take to address areas of need and make deep and long-lasting positive change. Whether it be through signature events, outreach or awareness campaigns, curricula or workshops, storytelling, or fellowship programs, the programs that receive this award demonstrate a breadth and depth of impact in critical areas—such as civic learning, democratic engagement, leadership and faculty development, assessment, or dialogue, deliberation, and bridge-building. |
APLU | Peter McPherson Lifetime Achievement Award | Staff/Faculty | APLU created the Peter McPherson Lifetime Achievement Award to honor an individual whose career has been dedicated to the service and leadership of public and land-grant universities. Candidates should have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to advancing student success, research and discovery, and community and economic engagement. |
