Next Gen Elections: College Students Powering the Polls

Next Gen Students during their training at the Innovation Partnership Building on September 11, 2024

The Next Gen Elections program trains college students to be poll workers at the Moderator level throughout Connecticut.

All Next Gen participants are paired with an experienced Registrar of voters who serves as their mentor. Participants work at least 20 hours per year during the 2024 and 2025 general elections. Training and working primarily take place during each fall election season. Transportation costs to and from assigned location(s) are reimbursed, including gas/mileage, public transportation, and/or ride-share services.

UConn is represented by 17 students (out of 40) in the 2024 cohort.

Applications for the next cohort are due on April 25, 2025.  More information here: Next Gen Elections - Application Process
